What Is a Waifu?
Waifu is a term used to describe an anime, or manga character that someone has a romantic affection for. It originates from Japanese by borrowing the English word “wife” and alternating it slightly due to the Japanese pronunciation and transliteration practices.
It was first used online in the second part of the 2000s. Nowadays, anime and manga fans refer to certain characters they have a great affection towards as their waifu.
