Hinata
In one word, Hinata is energetic. He is known for his loud and cheerful personality that shines through his straightforward nature. At first glance, he is seemingly simple-minded and makes rash decisions. However, Hinata is surprisingly observant and empathetic. His natural charisma allows him to create bonds even with the most reserved individuals.
He has a serious side too, particularly when it comes to volleyball. His fierce love for the game is reflected in his relentless pursuit of improvement and resilience during matches. That said, he struggled with nerves before games before learning to handle it over time. Lastly, both he and Kageyama have difficulties in academics due to their focus on the sport.
Kageyama
Kageyama is quick to anger and comes off as a perfectionist who values winning above all else. He was tagged the “King of the Court” due to his authoritarian style in junior high school volleyball games. He was later abandoned by his teammates which ignited regret and fear within him.
Beneath his tough facade lies a childish and sensitive person. Joining Karasuno helped him mature, learn acceptance, understand teamwork’s importance in volleyball, and regain confidence as a setter. He is fiercely passionate about volleyball and quick to celebrate every successful move on the court. While he still bristles when called “King of the Court”, he’s come to view it differently by his high school years’ end.
Nishinoya
Nishinoya is boisterous and energetic. He is prone to impulsive actions and loud exclamations. His eccentricity extends to his habit of inventing absurd names for his volleyball moves. He also tends, alongside his friend Tanaka, to win the affection of the unresponsive team manager, Kiyoko.
Despite the turbulent exterior, Nishinoya shines in seriousness during matches where he exhibits remarkable focus and perseverance. While seeming fearless, Nishinoya was a fearful child. He overcame this trait through persistence and courage imbued by his grandfather’s teachings: never be afraid to face fear or seek help.
Oikawa
Oikawa’s appeal to the ladies belies his tenacity and dedication on the volleyball court. Beneath his flirtatious veneer and occasional childishness, he possesses a sharp mind that allows him to easily decipher the weaknesses of friends and foes alike. He often comes off as smug and dismissive. But, Oikawa can also be caring, particularly towards his teammates.
His ambition fuels a rigorous work ethic coupled with feelings of inferiority against naturally gifted opponents like Kageyama and Ushijima. At times, he battled doubts about his love for the sport. Yet, Oikawa continues to find fun in every zigzag of his journey.

Kenma
Kenma is an introverted, analytical figure who seldom displays his emotions. This often results in him being perceived as cold or detached. He deeply cares for his friends and notices changes in their behavior showcasing his attentiveness and emotional intelligence. Kenma’s fear of standing out and voicing his views stems from a deep-rooted fear of judgment. This aspect has hindered the process of making friends, leaving Kuroo as his only close companion from childhood.
He is skillful at volleyball due to his strategic brilliance despite not possessing physical prowess. Moreover, Kenma derives pleasure from improving skills, similar to how one would approach a video game. However, it’s also the bond with his friends that keeps him tethered to the sport. Post-time-skip, Kenma emerges as an accomplished stock trader and CEO but remains humble and frugal.
