Shizuku Mizutani

Shizuku is of average height and has light brown hair. It is usually styled in the form of twin tails that go behind her ear and the fringe that goes to the top of her dark brown eyes. When in school, she wears a red-brown jacket with a school sweatshirt. In her free time, she wears old-fashioned clothes that Haru deems as “grandma-like”.

Shizuku often comes off as apathetic due to her ideologies. She is a firm believer in personal growth by solving your own problems. So when her classmates complain to her, she doesn’t care about their problems. She is very focused on her studies because she wants to be like Shizuku’s mother.

In social situations, she can be rather dense. She has a hard time realizing what others are trying to portray. She is socially inept and often emotionally withdrawn. For example, Shizuku was uncaring when her class’s pet died.

Haru Yoshida

Haru is the main male character of Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. He is considered very handsome by his peers. His black hair is often messy and falls over his face. His gray eyes and overall scary demeanor earned him the school nickname “monster”. Once he started smiling he gained popularity quickly.

On the outside, Haru is a violent, intimidating person. Moreover, he appears as a pessimistic and cynical person. However, that is all just a ruse he put up after a traumatic experience he had in middle school. In reality, he is naive and often clueless. He is also unpredictable and acts on impulse.

Asako Natsume

Asako is not the most accomplished student, but she gets by. What’s worse is that she has no friends outside the internet. Well, that’s until she meets Haru and Shizuku. Despite being asocial, other students think of her as someone extremely attractive. She has chest-length brown hair and big brown eyes. She’s usually wearing the regular school uniform that consists of a brown jacket and a checkered skirt.

Asako was getting a lot of attention from boys which made other girls jealous and angry. They distanced themselves from her and she started treating her looks like a curse. She has bad grades and likes spending her time on the Internet. After befriending Haru and Shizuku she becomes more understanding towards other lonely girls.

Lastly, she is sensitive and anything can set her off. In addition to that she is very innocent and cute. Not a single bad thought crossed her mind when it comes to her friends and she wants only the best for them. She despises boys and thinks they are selfish.

Sohei Sasahara

Sohei is an outgoing person that has a reputation for his kindness. He is always cheerful and kind towards others. Despite being well-liked by everyone, he keeps his circle of friends small. More often than not, he first thinks about others before himself.

He is a member of the baseball team which is shown by his baseball cap. His hair is dark and messy, while his eyes are dark green. Sometimes he makes cat-like expressions.
