His kindness and caring nature helped her regain confidence and strength, eventually molding Raphtalia into an independent, brave woman who wields the Vassal Katana with might and dignity.

Despite carrying a traumatic past marked by loss, torture, and abandonment, Raphtalia blooms into a compassionate person with an unwavering loyalty to Naofumi. She grows from a scared child to a heroic woman brimming with determination to prevent others from experiencing similar tragedies. She battles conflicting feelings of romance towards Naofumi and frustration at his controversial actions.

Naofumi Iwatani

Naofumi is a black-haired young man with sharp green eyes. He is often seen wearing the defensive Barbarian Armor +3 and wielding a Legendary Shield. He started as an optimistic and trusting hero before Malty S Melromarc’s betrayal left him cynical, distrustful, and constantly embittered.

As a Shield Hero, he’s protective of his loved ones, particularly Raphtalia and Filo in whom he found solace after his tribulations. His pragmatic approach has enabled him to ameliorate problems caused by other heroes while gaining public admiration. Inwardly though, he struggles with self-worth and intimacy. Nicknaming those around him based on their actions or associations, Naofumi reflects the treatment that people give him back onto them.

Melty Q Melromarc

Melty, a young girl of royal status, displays compassion and maturity that belies her tender age. Clad in blue finery, she fits the image of a polite princess perfectly but frequently shows her genuine kindness and lack of prejudice towards commoners and demi-humans.

Unlike her spoiled sister Malty, Melty’s sensible upbringing by Queen Mirellia instilled a sense of responsibility within her. Filo

She is notably caring, particularly towards Melty Q Melromarc, and despite seeming airheaded, she possesses an astute understanding of people’s intentions.

Aside from her boundless appetite and poor table manners conflicting with her appearance, Filo is an enthusiastic swimmer who loves collecting shiny objects and singing songs learned from various taverns.

Ren Amaki

Ren is a character drawn straight from the pages of a manga with his black hair and blue eyes.
