Kyoko Mogami

Kyoko is determined and caring, but constantly seeks validation through perfectionism. She is academically adept but naive, setting up heartbreak when her childhood sweetheart Sho betrays her. Despite a bitter past with neglectful parents, Kyoko channels her anger and bitterness into becoming a better actress, aiming to surpass Sho in fame.

She develops an uncanny ability to embody any character she portrays, yet this occasionally bleeds into her personal life. While maintaining firm friendships like the one with Kanae, she refuses to allow romantic feelings after Sho’s betrayal, even remaining obliviously distant from Ren’s obvious affections.

Ren Tsuruga

Ren Tsuruga is a stoic and private person. He is deeply committed to his acting career and intolerant of those who do not take their work seriously. Initially standoffish towards Kyoko Mogami due to her “impure” motives for joining the entertainment industry, he surprisingly finds himself developing feelings for her. That leads to a fierce rivalry with Sho.

Ren struggles with these unfamiliar emotions and often manifests childish behaviors like jealousy. His outward gentlemanly demeanor conceals an alter ego, Kuon Hizuri, who sporadically takes control during moments of distress. While Ren fears Kuon’s darkness, it is as Kuon that he connected genuinely with Kyoko in Guam.

Sho Fuwa

Sho is a fiercely possessive yet complex person, shown through his ambiguous feelings toward childhood companion, Kyoko. He is enigmatic and mature beyond his years. Moreover, he’s seen as quite shallow and flirtatious, yet has an undisputed gift for singing. His competitive nature emerges in bouts of envy towards popular singer Ren, whom he views as a major rival.

Sho was raised with expectations to inherit his parents’ traditional Japanese inn chain. But, he instead aspires for stardom in the music industry. That led him to Tokyo. He uses Kyoko’s servitude to fund his lifestyle.

Kanae Kotonami

Kanae is initially depicted as blunt and abrasive. Later on, she’s revealed to possess an intense competitiveness which drives her acting career. She views Kyoko Mogami, initially an adversary at an audition, as her rival due to the latter’s acting talent. Yet a softer side emerges with time. However, she struggles with openness about friendships but cherishes her bond with Kyoko.

She’s passionately devoted to her craft, frequently immersing herself wholly in roles even off-camera. As the second daughter in a large family, Kanae balances supporting them financially with maintaining a secretive side job outside of her agency, LME.

Yukihito Yashiro

Yukihito Yashiro is meticulous and fun-loving. He has a knack for matchmaking and an unfortunate ability to disrupt electronic devices with a mere touch. With light-colored hair, brown eyes, and glasses, he has an easily overlooked appearance that conceals his exceptional capabilities.

Yashiro’s unwavering dedication to Ren often takes the form of elaborate setups to push Ren closer to Kyoko, the woman he believes Ren should be with.
