Himura Kenshin
Kenshin is a man of youthful, androgynous appearance with a slim physique. He is often misjudged due to his boyish facade which belies the ferocious swordsman he once was. His most distinct features are his mid-length red hair tied up in a ponytail and the infamous cross-shaped scar on his cheek.
Kenshin’s tranquil persona and humble nature mask the guilt that weighs heavy on him for his history as a hitokiri (assassin). To atone for this past, he has taken a vow never to kill again, aiming to protect life instead. He carries this burden alone due to fear of endangering those around him.
Saitō Hajime
Once a captain in the Shinsengumi, Saitō is a formidable, morally grey character with an inflexible adherence to his personal code. Alternately morbid and slightly humorously sadistic, he bears a long-standing rivalry with Himura Kenshin. In spite of their opposing pasts and ethics, they join forces against common adversaries.
He is a perceptive observer and skilled swordsman. On top of that, he executes his duties dispassionately, tackling the ‘necessary dirty work’. He has distinct narrow eyes and “spider-like” hair strands on his forehead. One might also notice Saitō’s preference for smoking and the ever-present katana on his left side. Sagara Sanosuke

Shishio Makoto
Shishio, with his fiery red eyes and hair tufts peeping out of the bandages shrouding his burnt, cracked skin, is a chilling sight to behold. He is a ruthless strategist who believes in social Darwinism. Moreover, Shishio’s veneer of cold-blooded sadism conceals but doesn’t entirely quell a twisted sense of humor and uncharacteristic fondness for Yumi Komagata.
Regardless of forming bonds with Sōjirō and Hōji, he views them merely as tools serving his ambitions. He’s an iron-willed manipulator who learns quickly from his errors and a mastermind so crafty that even the Meiji government fails to locate him. But amidst all the darkness, there is an honor in Shishio. It lies in his unwavering commitments and deranged drive for victory.

Seta Sōjirō
