Baki

Baki is a teenager gripped by the potent drive to triumph over his father. His father, Yuujirou Hanma, is infamous as the strongest man alive. Baki is a protective lover and a devoted martial artist. He exercises relentlessly and learns from battling stronger opponents. His motivation isn’t to replace his enigmatic father but to grow strong enough to defeat him.

His desire for strength is mirrored in his passionate relationship with his girlfriend Kozue Matsumoto, whose love fuels him. Baki’s respect for formidable opponents often annoys Yuujirou as it contrasts with an approach focusing on brutal domination.

Yuujirou

Yuujirou is a domineering figure. He is infamous for his fearsome aura and his love for battle. He lacks mercy and empathy and often engages in brutal actions without remorse. His overwhelming power earned him immunity from the U.S., reflecting his god-like stature among people. His arrogance is best portrayed in the way he treats those who are beneath him. His fierce facade scares many but also leaves him blind to other techniques beyond brute strength. In defeat, he grows humbler and gentler not just towards Baki but others as well. While he may be of average intelligence, the flashes of combat genius illuminate his lineage.
