Tohru

Tohru is a perpetually optimistic and kind soul undeterred by the tragedies of her past. She’s unwaveringly patient, selfless, and empathetic. She is often seen as a motherly figure by Yuki Sohma and Isuzu Sohma due to her nurturing personality. While seemingly cheerful, Tohru struggles with deep-seated loneliness, self-esteem issues, and fears of abandonment.

After the death of her parents, she pretended to be someone else to cope with her loss. Her desire to break the Zodiac’s curse stems from wanting Kyo’s freedom more than anything else.

Kyo

Kyo was originally hot-headed and brash. He struggles with self-loathing fostered by his past and the weight of being excluded from the zodiac as the cat. His aggressive nature serves as a defense mechanism to cover up his inner pain and vulnerability. Yet, he shows an unwavering emotional resilience when dealing with those he cares about.

Yuki

Shigure

Shigure, initially fun-loving and laid-back, is revealed to be deeply complex. On one hand, he cares for others like Tohru, with whom he develops an unexpectedly protective relationship. On the other hand, his love for Akito leads him to extreme lengths. He even becomes manipulative and deceitful.

He thrives on pushing the boundaries of those around him. He often hides his true intentions behind humor and flirtatiousness. His motivations are predominantly rooted in his desire to break a curse and win over Akito’s heart. As a father, he is light-hearted, reliable, and trustworthy.

Haru

Hatsuharu, often referred to as Haru, embodies a dual personality. He has a cheerful and quiet “white” side and an aggressive, outburst-prone “black” persona. He is usually laid-back and respectful, but can quickly become violent if provoked.
